Downloading and installing VMware Fusion

Symptoms

---

• You cannot download VMware Fusion
• Download stops intermittently or does not complete
• Auto update to new version of Fusion fails
• The Fusion installer .dmg does not mount or install
• Your serial number is not accepted. You receive this error:
  
  Invalid Serial Number

To download VMware Fusion:

1. Navigate to the VMware Download Center.
2. Click Go to Downloads.
3. Click Download Now.
   
   If prompted, log in to your My VMware profile. If you do not have a profile, create one. For more information, see How to create a My VMware profile (2007005).
    
4. Review the End User License Agreement, and click Yes if you agree.
   
   Note: There are two different versions of Fusion available for download for Fusion 6.x and 5.x: One is a complete version is a larger file to download; the other version is marked as light, and is a smaller download but does not include VMware Tools .isofiles for Linux or the McAfee AntiVirus Plus software. For more information about the anti-virus software, see the McAfee page.
   
   Note: The preceding link was correct as of September 4, 2013. If you find the link is broken, provide feedback and a VMware employee will update the link.
    
5. If you are unable to complete the file download:
    
   1. Delete the cache in your web browser.
   2. Disable any pop-up blocker in your web browser.
   3. Try downloading from a different web browser application (for example, Safari instead of Firefox).
   4. Disable any local firewall software.
   5. Restart your Mac.
   6. Download the installer from a different computer or network.
